About Me

I am an Army officer and military attorney with more than twenty years of service across operational, legal, and leadership roles. I began my career as an enlisted Soldier in the Army National Guard, earning undergraduate and graduate degrees in business while serving, before commissioning as a field artillery officer. I later entered the Army’s Funded Legal Education Program and earned my Juris Doctor from Marquette University Law School.

Since joining the Judge Advocate General’s Corps in 2013, I have served in a wide range of legal positions, including Trial Counsel, Defense Counsel, Brigade Judge Advocate, Chief of Military Justice, and Chief of National Security and Operational Law. Those roles have given me hands-on experience advising commanders, leading legal teams, and operating at the intersection of law, policy, and military operations.

My academic background reflects the same breadth. I hold a bachelor’s degree in business administration, an MBA in corporate finance, a JD with a litigation certificate, and an LL.M. in Military Law with a concentration in criminal law. Together, that mix of operational experience and formal education shapes how I approach complex problems, practically, analytically, and with an eye toward real-world consequences.

Outside my official duties, I write extensively on artificial intelligence and the law, with additional work focused on contemporary issues in national security law. That writing draws on my experience in military operations and emerging technologies, including the legal and policy dimensions of modern warfare. This site collects that work and serves as a point of contact for writing, speaking, and collaboration.

Service beyond the uniform matters to me as well. Community volunteering has been a constant in my life, even alongside the demands of military service. I am especially proud of my family’s involvement supporting Afghan refugees while we were stationed at Fort Bliss, efforts that were recognized when we were named Volunteer Family of the Year for 2021–2022.
